Addressing sustainable agriculture It combines elements of climate change, culture, science, and transportation, and has often been called a “systemic” issue that requires “holistic” thinking to address. Making connections between markets and technologies is a key part to understanding how to approach sustainability as an ecological, economic, and social concept.
We asked ourselves: who is doing the work on new innovations that can drive the creation of an efficient agriculture sector?
GreenLeaders DC identified one of the most promising solutions on the market today – one that enables developing nations to “leapfrog” to a sustainable agriculture future and reduce the need for capital-intensive infrastructure projects. Working with professionals from the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, we produced in-depth interviews and podcasts, plus a comprehensive live interactive online workshop. We highlighted the innovative approach of using cold supply chains based on clean energy to address a crucial issue in bringing agriculture produce to market and reducing food waste.
